Raised Air Intake, Snorkel Ram Air Head.

The Raised Air Intake, Snorkel Ram Air Head is a precision made high quality linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE).  This gives strength and durability in harsh environmental conditions.

It is a straight replacement for any other Head.  We have a choice of two Heads, one which is 3″ diameter and one which is 3.5″ diameter neck size.  It will fit to most 4x4s fitted with raised air intakes.

The Snorkel Ram Head may be rotated a full 360 degrees for forward or rear facing air intake.

It should always be remembered what a Raised Air Intake (also known as a Snorkel) is designed for, besides being a statement.

Raised Air Intakes are purposefully designed and ideal when driving on dusty or sandy conditions.  The raised air intake helps protect the engine by taking in cleaner air from an elevated position, above the bonnet, and therefore reducing the amount of dust particles taken into the air filter.

If using for deeper water wading then it must be ensured that all joints in the air intake to filter system are sealed using a waterproofing system such as silicone or gaskets and also using water traps/valves in the the manufacturer has installed, or as required.

Additional information of interest

  • Preparation. The Raised Air Intake Header is ready coloured in Satin Black and does not require painting. See our sister company Paintman Paint however for all your other painting requirements to give a quality painted finish both in primers and topcoat.
  • Does Ram Air Intake make a difference.  Ram air intakes can increase your vehicle’s performance.  It will fuel the engine with cooler, compressed air that contains more oxygen. Cooler air is denser than warmer air, which means more oxygen will combust.  This in turn can lead to better fuel economy and performance overall.
